GOOD PARTY!

GOOD PARTY!

So B and I threw a Naughty or Nice party celebrating some October birthdays.  I suppose we had 30 or 40 people floating around, and some really good costumes.  We had two pinatas...a Hello Kitty pinata with Nice things in it, and a big scary Dragon pinata with...well, Naughty things in it.  Our friend K made a magnificent spidery cake. It was a work of art...except tasty and delicious.  Most works of art, not so tasty.

We had some crazy runnings-around to get ready, but (as they have a way of doing) things came together and it was a huge success.  We're cementing our position as The Party House up here.  I think I can live with that...particularly since I don't have to go far to crash into bed.

Good times indeed!

Heh heh. Fire is COOL.

I was feeling the grumpy tonight when I got home from work, so I made B pick out dinner.  We went to our favorite Pho joint, which is always a good idea.

At one point, one of the diners at my 3:00 had a fire-related incident.  Some dish had been served on one of those nifty butane-powered burners, and it leaked.  The butane, not the dish.  So there was, like, fire all over the table cloth.  Diner leaps away, waiter rescues dish and turns off stove, disaster averted.  Fun to watch, though.

Because we're both turbo-geeks, B was almost as excited as I was to buy this.  They're little white plastic nubbies, that plug into the tops of our iPods, and emit either laser (with finger-quotes...a "laser") or an LED flashlight beam.

At $20 (as per the web site), not a good deal.  At $10, we bought two sets, so we can both harass the cat simultaneously.  Actually, it was looking like Maggie was vaguely interested in playing with the laser, which made us real happy-like.

So, yeah.  Our iPods have lasers now.  Fear us.

Let's see...so what's going on?

Well, a week ago Saturday, we celebrated Miss H's birthday here at Chez Gibson Curry.  I had fun with thermodynamics.  The crockery bowl from the fondue pot that K gave us cracked when I didn't get the chocolate in there fast enough.  Frankly, I didn't expect that thing to put out so much heat.  It made a really fun sound, though, when it went splodey.

I managed to crack the first batch of chocolate fondue, which is not a good thing.  We're guessing it was the cornstarch in the powdered sugar (I misremembered which kind of sugar we're supposed to use).  A little corn syrup and a fresh batch, we were good to go.  Mr. A made beignets, which were very nice.  The turnout wasn't huge, but we had a really good time.  Watched Dodgeball, which is a very guilty very pleasure.

I guess I forgot to blog (OK, I really hate that word...) journal about our housewarming party!  Yay!  We had a BUNCH of folks come through.  We're guesstimating that there were maybe 70 or so people over the course of the day, hangin' out, chatting, eatin' burgers, touring our sweet pad...it was good times indeed.  We've got us some cool friends up here.

However, I managed to procure some extra friends to celebrate with us.  Rusty and Sarah, and their new lil tyke Joshua,  visited from Texas, and MattM and his lady Miss O came down from VCBC, which is in, like, a different country.  It was lovely to see my friends from TX (MattM's a transplant), and show them around our cool new place.  YAY!

This weekend, the ladytype is out of town, so I've got the joint to myself.  Gonna have to find me a hot date!
